CONTENT AND LANGUAGE INTEGRATED LEARNING
The CLIL methodology, which is the cornerstone of this project, aims at teaching different subjects by means of a foreign language. This way, students can learn content in a language, different from their mother tongue.
With the implementation of the CLIL methodology, pupils have the opportunity to achieve language knowledge in context and from different perspectives. This way, they can develop a deeper practice of the English language without additional class time. Pupils will feel more motivated and better prepared to communicate in different situations enhancing school success and diminishing early school leaving.
In order to make bilingual teaching more effective it is fundamental that it is introduced from a very early age on, at primary or pre-primary level. Learning a foreign language from an early childhood on fosters a deeper knowledge and respect for the others and a better acceptance of other cultures.
This methodology has been recognised by the European Commission as effective in foreign language teaching and learning.
